This photo of Matt Dallas was used for the cover of Scholastic Math magazine. Advanced techniques using Photoshop’s channels were required to mask his hair in order to replace the background. Every strand of his hair has remained intact.

Compositing – sample 3

This photo was used for the cover of Scholastic News magazine. The original photo was shot horizontally, so I extended the background by blending it with another snow photo. Now it fits the magazine’s vertical format.

The art director instructed me to remove most of the logos from the bicyclist’s clothing, helmet, and bike.

This photo was used for the cover of Scope magazine. Per the graphic designer’s instructions, I altered the color of the sky, removed the plants from the side of the road, and extended the field in the background. I also enhanced the details in the teenager, ATV, and helicopter.

This photo was used for a poster about winter animals. I removed the blue color cast, corrected the exposure, and enhanced the detail in the snow and the rabbit’s fur.

My client, a jeweler, wanted to display her work online, but her photographs had severe color casts. In this example, I restored the shiny silver necklace and leaf pendant and replaced the clear stone with a green one. I also removed the background and added a soft shadow. The difference is quite dramatic.

My client, Zen Home, wanted me to alter several photos. In this one, I removed the door, shelf, cord, and electrical outlet from the background, smoothed out the blotchy blue paint, and fine-tuned the exposure.

The original photo was almost fifty years old and was badly damaged and faded. I removed the rips, creases, and speckles and restored the detail that had been lost over time. My client was very pleased with the results. View the full version here.

I removed the blue color cast from the original photo, adjusted the exposure, and corrected the bride and groom’s skin tone. I also enhanced the details, especially in the shadows. The groom’s tuxedo is visible now.
